A day in the life of.....

Some of you may have heard me talk about "The August Mommy Board", its a group of ladies who were all pregnant and due in the month of August. I have enjoyed getting to know these ladies and build friendships with them. A couple days ago one of the bumpies shared a super fun idea to blog "A day in the life of", so basically I would compose a blog with photos and details of what I did on one particular day. I had so much fun doing this and plan to do it annually.

Wednesday January 18th, 2012
Who needs an alarm when you have a 4.5 month old?!?! Marcus woke me up at 5:58 this morning, but I didn't go downstairs to make his bottle until..
Once I got upstairs with his bottle he was patiently waiting..
Can I just add how much I LOVE waking up to this baby boy each and every morning!

About 15 minutes later Daddy kissed us both goodbye and headed off to work.

After Marcus finished his morning bottle we laid in bed for 20ish minutes watching "Elf" until mommy was more awake and ready to get our day started!

Once we ventured downstairs it was coffee time, clip coupons while little man jumped in his jumperoo

8:40 we were out the door and on our way to the bank and....

because our fridge looked like this...

Yikes! After we were done grocery shopping we were back on the road and heading home.

We got home shortly after 9:30 and I was on a mission to put the groceries away, wash baby bottles and clean our messy kitchen!

After the grocery items were put away, the kitchen was clean and the baby bottles were washed Marcus was ready to eat..

Brace yourself for all this cuteness!
He loves prunes!

Mommy needs breakfast too!

After breakfast it was roll around on the floor time while we watched "The price is right".
During roll around time Marcus was way to active after eating that he proceeded to throw up all over himself so it was time for outfit #2 for the day and a nap (he only sleeps 30 minutes his first nap of the day)

While Marcus slept mommy made Slutty Brownies *Gasps!* Totally inappropriate, I know! That's what they are called though. Slutty Brownies are a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, layer of Oreo cookies and a layer of brownie mix. I've been wanting to make these for Chris for months now and I thought today was the best day (I'm on a liquid diet for the next couple days) so I wont be tempted to help him polish off the pan. He he!

I cant wait until after dinner so Chris can give them a try and let me know what he thinks, I must admit they smell SO yummy!

About the time I was putting the brownies in the oven little guy was starting to fuss and was wanting to play.
TUMMY TIME....*Notice how he is shirtless? He tossed his cookies....again! We went through 5 outfits today! Goodness, I REALLY need a washer/dryer!
Marcus spent about 15 minutes playing on the floor, he was totally amused so I went ahead and took a couple minutes to get on the laptop (right next to him) and catch up with my August mommies and also post my HDBD (Hump day bump/baby day) photo.

Have I mentioned how much I love this group of ladies?!?!
It wasn't long before Marcus was ready to eat again!
I have a feeling this kid is going to cost an arm and a leg to feed as a teenager..Haha!

After polishing off his bottle it was time for another nap! This is my favorite nap of the day, it typically last 1-1.5 hours. I try to be as productive as possible during this time.

The first item on my "To-do list" was get dinner going.

Chili!
This is the most simple yet delicious recipe!
1lbs of ground beef/turkey
1 can of kidney beans
1 can of black beans
1 can of corn
1 can of stewed tomatoes
1 pack of seasoning
1 medium onion

Once dinner was rocking and rolling it was time to clean the bathroom and then some "me time". Today for my "me time" I chose to blog.
Daddy got home shortly after 6:30, he had dinner as I fed little man some Oatmeal and homemade yams!
After dinner time is cuddle with kitty time! Then bath time with daddy!
After his bath I lotioned him up and got him dress for bed. Daddy fed him his bottle which was his last feeding of the day while I prepared some baby food for the next couple days. Sweet potatoes (his favorite!)

The baby food takes 25 minutes a batch. The babybrezza steams and purees the food, all I have to do once its done is dish it up into the storage containers and freeze/refrigerate. Tonight I did 2 batches.

Little man fell asleep on daddy about 10 minutes after 8. He is currently sawing logs (his snore is so comforting to me) while I finished this up.
Daddy is getting ready to enjoy his "slutty brownies" and after I'm done with this I plan to take a hot, relaxing bath and get ready for "Revenge" to come on at 10!
I hope you enjoyed "A day in the life of" us! Our life may not be super exciting or glamorous but I love it and wouldn't trade it in for anything!

Love, Chris and Katie

  1. Thanks for sharing!

How do you get the cat to snuggle with the baby like that? I love it!

Also, I completely understand the 5 outfits a day. Connor is such a spitter too!

  2. Thanks Lisa!

We have 2 cats, one can't stand the baby everytime Marcus makes any noise he runs upstairs..lol Tink on the other hand LOVES Marcus. She is always with him. I put him in the chair and she just jumped up and laid next to him. It didn't last much longer after this picture though, Marcus started pinching her and pulling on her fur.
